Certa Cito 100 Launch – Royal Australian Corps of Signals Ceremonial Parade and Commemorative Service

Ceremonial Parade & Commemorative Service

To launch the Centenary Year of the Royal Australian Corps of Signals; the Corps will conduct a ceremonial parade and commemorative service on the Second World War Memorial Forecourt, at the Shrine of Remembrance, Melbourne.

The Parade will commence at 1000 hours.

All current and former members of the Corps are invited to attend the parade. Medals should be worn.

As part of the Commemorative Service, units, associations and individuals will be invited to lay a wreath.

Further details of the event and post parade activities will be advised once confirmed.

Dress

The soldiers on parade will be wearing Dress Order No 2A ‘Ceremonial Parade Dress’ with weapons.

It is requested that you wear suitable attire for the occasion (lounge suit or equivalent) with medals.

While wearing of issued head wear or UN berets for ex-serving veterans is encouraged; as the parade is to be conducted outdoors, suitable headdress / weather protection is also advised.

Arrival and Reception

To assist with your arrival and attendance at the event, the following information is provided:

The Shrine of Remembrance is located on Birdwood Avenue and St Kilda Road, 1.3km from Flinders Street Railway Station.

You can walk or catch a tram from the city. Take any southbound tram from Federation Square (except route number 1) to Stop 19 Shrine of Remembrance.

The nearest car parking is on Birdwood Avenue and St Kilda Road (ticket required). Disabled access bays are opposite the Shrine on Birdwood Avenue.

The Parade

Will be conducted on the Second World War Memorial Forecourt.

Seating

There will be limited covered seating available, some of which will be reserved for the Official Guests and their parties.

It is therefore advisable to consider an umbrella / parasol, in addition to suitable headwear.

Timings

You are requested to be in the seating / viewing area by 0930 hours, in time for the parade commencement at 1000 hrs.

Post-Parade

Following the conclusion of the parade, a morning tea will occur at the rear of the Shrine of Remembrance.

Their Excellencies, Brigadier Limmer, Official Guests and veterans are invited to attend and meet current serving members of the Corps.

A café is located in the Shrine of Remembrance Visitor Centre.

All parade and event locations are single level, with road / path access.

There are toilet facilities situated in the Shrine of Remembrance Visitor Centre and to the rear of the Galleries of Remembrance. Public toilets are also available in the gardens to the rear of the Shrine near Birdwood Avenue.

Departure

Following the completion of the parade and the conduct of the morning tea, your departure from the Shrine is at your discretion.

Wet weather plan

In the event of inclement weather, the parade may be cancelled at the discretion of the Commanding Officer.

Conclusion

Marking of the commencement of the Centenary of the Corps is a significant event.

Your attendance at the parade will contribute to the appropriate recognition of this milestone and the important role you played in the achievements of the Corps.
